Wellness Equity

Working Towards Wellness Equity

At Three Tides Wellness, one of our core intentions is being inclusive - that all individuals feel welcome, heard and well supported. We recognise there is a historical lack of diversity and inclusion in the wellness industry, but we want to support change. We set out to help people take control of their growth and healing journey and while we honour the good that we have done, thus far, we also acknowledge we must continue to grow and learn to ensure we are keeping true to these values.

Just as we believe that healing is a whole body approach and individualised, we need to look at the wellness industry as a whole society perspective. We have to examine how we are supporting change and how each of us as individuals and independent contractors impact the well-being of society.

By continuing to grow and learn, from experts in the field, we want individuals from all diversities; ethnicities, race, sexual orientations, gender expressions, religions and abilities, to know that you are heard, welcomed and cared for within our Three Tides community. This is a space that strives to provide high quality health care in a nature inspired facility where wellness and healing is at the utmost importance.

OUR MISSION

Three Tides Wellness will provide holistic care and wellness services that are comprehensive, inclusive, and which provide quality of care, client safety, and address the rights of individuals to make informed decisions regarding their health and well-being.

Learning along the way

We will use our guiding principles and values as a foundation to assess our actions, strive to do better, and be held accountable to ourselves + by our community.

Action Plan

AMPLIFYING BLACK/LGBTQ+ AND MARGINALIZED VOICES

We will be using our social media platform to amplify the voices of members of the BIPOC + LGBTQ+ communities, specifically within the health and wellness sphere.

HIRING PRACTICES

We will prioritize hiring practices that centre diversity throughout our organizational growth.

WORKPLACE CULTURE

We will constantly work toward a mindful and welcoming workplace culture that encourages us to acknowledge our unique roles in perpetuating oppressive systems and empowers us to work to actively dismantle them.

DIVERSIFICATION

We will proactively work to diversify our community, increase access to our spaces and services and expand our network practitioners, instructors and facilitators.

We acknowledge the lack of diversity in the wellness community. While we aspire for our community to reflect the diversity of the surrounding KW community, we know we are not there yet. Just as we commit to changing our recruitment efforts to grow a more diverse team, we will reexamine the ways in which we actively outreach to grow our community.

COMMUNITY / KARMA CLASSES

To make Yoga more accessible, we will be offering a series of karma classes that give back to the community.

“Self-care is necessary, but so is community-care. We heal for ourselves first so we can collectively create change together. ”
