Pelvic Floor Physiotherapy

Pelvic floor physiotherapy is a specialized branch of physiotherapy that focuses on restoring optimal function of the muscles, joints, ligaments, nerves and connective tissue of the pelvic girdle, low back and hips. It uses both internal and external techniques to assess and treat the pelvic floor musculature and associated structures. Treatment involves a comprehensive plan of care and may include client education, therapeutic exercise, activity modification strategies, relaxation and breathing training, and manual therapy. Pelvic floor physiotherapy can address many issues, including: urinary leakage or urgency, pelvic organ prolapse, and pelvic pain conditions.
